A kid in a candy store. How else can one accurately describe the look of those who open Neiman Marcus’ annual Christmas Book? Contained within 274 pages are some of the most luxurious, beautiful and unique gifts of the season. The book is composed of over 800 items priced between $9 and $1.6 million, ranging from cashmere coats for winter to swimsuits for San Tropez, from diamond-studded jewelry to Peas and Carrots gourmet candy. Truly something for everyone!
Of course, the showstoppers each year are the Fantasy Gifts. This year, you can fly in a helicopter with photographer Gray Malin for a Malibu photo session; buy a customized dollhouse from Madame Alexander; get a fabulous spa treatment in Paris or pick up personalized Champagne in France; create one-of-a-kind emerald jewelry in London; host a New Year’s Eve party in Times Square for 300 of your closest friends; or enjoy a VIP week at pro golf’s Ryder Cup. Oh, let’s not forget the his-and-her Rolls Royce coupes. And what could be a greater gift than clean water?
Three sisters from Dallas — Isabelle, 14, Katherine, 11, and Trinity, 7 — run the non-profit Paper for Water, which spearheads the sale of origami ornaments to raise funds for clean-water wells around the world. Individual limited edition origami ornaments are $50 each. For $50,000, the buyer gets 250 ornaments and Neiman Marcus will donate $50,000 to the creation of two wells. It’s a three-for-one deal: a beautiful ornament, clean water for those in need, and support for the dreams of young philanthropists.
